About the Series
With their dynamic combination of music and conversation, our concerts are a performance experience that’s as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. Each show features top talent, either from our own roster (including adult versions of our Race and Song program) or beyond, and is geared toward audiences of all ages.
Most Opening Doors Community Concerts have been presented free to the public, thanks to grants from government and nonprofit organizations, congregations, civic groups, and donations from folks like you.
"A perfect way to spark important conversations about race, social justice, history, and community – whether amongst your family, students, or even the strangers sitting next to you."
Brittany Parker
Education Manager, Strand Theatre (Rockland, ME)
"These shows have helped expand both our palates and consciousness as a congregation. They are a perfect expression of our Unitarian Universalist values of pluralism, interdependence, and justice. We love Opening Doors!"
Dr. Rev. Susanne Intriligator
Minister, Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church (Melrose, MA)
"Easily one of the best programs we've had at the Brookline Senior Center! It went above and beyond our expectations and got our community truly invested in talking about race. The musical model through which the program was conducted was inspiring."
Jamie Jensen
Program Manager, Brookline Council on Aging (Brookline, MA)
"You guys were a hit! Our group loved it... And then it got better!! When you represent yourselves as educators, you aren't kidding. Your Q&A responses are so thought provoking and soul searching. Thanks again!"
Sheridan Kassirer, Racial Justice Initiative Co-Chair
Temple Beth Elohim (Wellesley, MA)
"Hosting Opening Doors in our community allowed for us to engage thoughtfully through music and conversation on the topic of race and lived experience. Folks certainly enjoyed the music and live entertainment but, more importantly, we all left more enriched by the storytelling and questions asked."
Rev. Emelia Attridge
Minister, Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading (Reading, MA)
